A Retreat for Clergy and for the Spouses of Clergy.

Last week at this time I was in Cannon Beach, Oregon, for a retreat that is sponsored by our Presbytery. The retreat is for clergy (married, single, retired, tired, etc.) and the spouses of clergy. The retreat begins on Sunday evening and concludes by 11:30 A.M. on Tuesday.

This year, the planning team decided that the main presenters for the retreat should be the spouses of clergy. They did a FANTASTIC job! We were guided through the process of getting to know one another better, looking at and talking about the blessings we have been experiencing and sharing the challenges we are facing. We had opportunities to pray for one another.

There are two main “rules” for the retreat:

  1. Rule #1—No talking denominational politics!!!
  2. Rule #2—Get what you need for this time away from your congregation (if you need sleep and rest then sleep and rest, walk on the beach, shop, eat, laugh and only attend our gatherings if that is what you need).

The photos are from the retreat. To prove that we are truly “Presbyterian” I have included a photo of the third communion item—coffee!
