Creating a Top 10 List for GA
I am glad that the State Clerk of the PCUSA published his “top 10” list for the upcoming meeting of the General Assembly. As mentioned earlier, it is less than inspiring. We can do better! Let’s compile a list and then I will forward it to Presbyweb in a letter to the editor.
- The Peace, Unity and Purity report.
- Starting new churches.
- Congregational development.
- The recovery efforts from hurricanes Katrina and Rita.
- Creating priorities for the denomination that will be ratified by the presbyteries, develop budgets based on these priorities and staff accordingly.
What priorities would you add?

Good list. #5, if implemented, would address a lot of issues.
I'd like to add an emphasis on evangelism and growth of existing churches as well as your point #1.
I'd also like to see Youth Ministry become a top priority of the denomination--including college age and twenty-somethings. It's shameful how we've eliminated funding for this from the PCUSA budget.
As Marj Carpenter would say:
Mission! Mission! Mission!
I think the GA's Resolution on Immegration (2003)needs an overhaul. Also the GA's stance on securing the US borders.
