Evergreen Presbyterian Church became a
Purpose Driven Presbyterian Church just over a year ago.
Since that time we have been very intentional about the classes that we have at the church.
Over and over again we heard, “Being a follower of Jesus is going to take a lot of time.”
Many, if not most, Presbyterian Churches are what I would call “low expectation” churches.
Church active membership rolls are filled with people who attend worship less than five times per year.
The
Book of Order has a fairly extensive list of what is expected of active members of Presbyterian churches but it is rarely mentioned or enforced.
Let’s face it… most Presbyterian churches have very low expectations of its members.
Evergreen has a new challenge called T.L.C. 2007. TLC does not stand for “tender loving care.” For Evergreen, TLC 2007 stands for “Total Life Commitment 2007.” This does not take the place of being a Purpose Driven Presbyterian Church! TLC 2007 will help each individual move closer to living a Purpose Driven life.
TLC 2007 has three components: a spiritual growth commitment, a family commitment and a health commitment. For the next several days I will be expanding on our TLC 2007 challenge.

looking forward to it.
First Pres Thibodaux is also purpose driven although not in the typical programatical sense.
It has truly helped us to grow and change.

Good for y'all! I look forward to reading about it--especially specific examples of how the congregation lives this out.
Yes, oh yes. I'm very interested in this too. Thank you for sharing this.
